How to Migrate from Unit Trac to Brynlock
Migrating from Unit Trac to Brynlock takes about an hour of hands-on work. Export your tenants and units as CSV from Unit Trac's Admin panel (15–20 minutes), then upload the file to the Brynlock importer (30 minutes including column mapping review). The six steps to export from Unit Trac

Log in to Unit Trac
Log in at unitrac.com with your manager or admin account. Only accounts with admin access can export data.
If you don't have admin privileges, ask the facility owner or primary account holder to perform the export, or temporarily elevate your role with Unit Trac support.

Go to Settings or Admin
Click your account name or the gear icon in the top right corner to open Settings. Look for a "Data" or "Export" section.
Unit Trac's data tools live under the Admin panel. If your account is on the Basic plan, some export features may be limited; Unit Trac support can run a one-time export on your behalf.

Export Tenants
Select Tenant Export or Download Tenant Data. Choose "Current tenants" and export as CSV. If given a date range, choose a range that includes all active tenants.
Past tenants do not migrate. Brynlock starts a fresh ledger from your import date; historical tenant records stay in Unit Trac for reference.

Export Units (optional)
Repeat for units if available. This exports your unit grid: numbers, sizes, and types. If there's no unit export, Brynlock can create your unit grid manually after import.
If you have a small facility (under 75 units), it may be faster to enter units directly in Brynlock during onboarding rather than exporting them from Unit Trac.

Open the CSV and check it
Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets and confirm you can see tenant names, unit numbers, and monthly rates. If the file is empty or has unexpected formatting, contact Unit Trac support.
Common Unit Trac CSV issues: tenant names in a single column instead of split, monthly rates with currency symbols, blank rows for past tenants. Brynlock handles all three, but it helps to know what to expect.

Import into Brynlock
Sign in to Brynlock and go to the Import page. Upload your CSV and Brynlock will detect Unit Trac columns and ask you to confirm the mapping before creating any records.
The importer flags duplicate tenants and incomplete rows before any data is committed. You can also dry-run the import to see exactly what will be created without writing anything.
Common questions
How long does migrating from Unit Trac to Brynlock take?
About an hour of hands-on work. The Unit Trac export takes about 15–20 minutes; the Brynlock CSV importer detects Unit Trac column names, so the import side takes 20–30 minutes including review. Autopay then runs on the next 1st.
Can I run Unit Trac and Brynlock at the same time?
Yes. The Brynlock import is non-destructive; it reads your CSV but does not touch Unit Trac. Run both systems in parallel until you're confident the data and workflows are correct in Brynlock, then cancel Unit Trac.
What about online payments and autopay configured in Unit Trac?
Unit Trac autopay settings won't transfer. After migrating, send tenants the Brynlock autopay enrollment link to reconnect their cards or bank accounts via Stripe. This takes about 2 minutes per tenant; Brynlock provides a one-click bulk-send option from the tenants list.
My CSV has unusual column names. Will Brynlock understand them?
Possibly. Brynlock detects common Unit Trac column names. For anything it doesn't recognize, the importer shows a mapping screen where each column can be assigned manually. No spreadsheet editing is required.
I don't see an export option anywhere.
Unit Trac's export is in the Admin panel. If you don't see it, your account may not have admin privileges. Ask the facility owner to export, or contact Unit Trac support at (888) 919-8722.
Is there a migration fee?
